Irvine, California
Although I was not born in Irvine, California, I have spent the majority of my life in the safest city in the nation for the last several years. An article in the Business Insider explains why we have been consistently America's safest city. (http://www.businessinsider.com/irvine-california-is-americas-safest-city-2013-7) Our city is often called "The Bubble" of Orange County. No matter what the perception of Irvine is to the neighboring cities, it has been a home to me and my cultured family. Irvine's growing population and cultural events contributes to its ethnic diversity. Irvine has its own temple, mosque, synagogues, churches, along with other religious sanctuaries. Growing up, I was exposed to all these places of worship by my parents. Other than spirituality, I played basketball for the local Boy's and Girl's Club, showed interest in tennis, learned to play the Tabla (Indian drums), participated in Taekwondo, and started Indian Classical singing lessons. No matter what people say, Irvine has shaped my life. Without it, its people, its environment, I wouldn't be here. So, thank you Irvine!!!
